COMMUNITY TABLE TENNIS CLUB
Ping Pong! With a small grant from Vinspired, a large canteen space and some donated building materials we set about making a table tennis club. Serve & Return was to be Deptford's free ping pong parlour. An open space for play, health, social cohesion and some light competition.
The weekly evening clubs saw us collaborate with chefs, DJs, and lots of friends.
***The project is currently retired, but would love to return it somewhere again in the future***
It's all in a name. Serve & Return comes from one of the first instructions on how to play ping pong and a action we wanted to promote around a frequently visited open club. We would serve, they would return. The identity comes from the real DIY(ness) of the project for us, it wasn't flash or perfect, the surfaces were far from ideal but it could grow and get better.
Trophy winners! Every great club, needs a champion and every champion needs a trophy. So here's a trophy quickly made from offcuts in the workshop. And some busted ping pong balls.
Trash talk part wall coverings, part type specimen this series of posters was kind of just there to brighten things up a little showing the fun and flavour of the diy club come brand.
Serve & Return was a project dreamed up and built at Assembly with a small grant from Vinspired and later collaborating with table tennis organisation PING! England.
